Kokoda 75th Anniversary Details

AWM website (www.awm.gov.au )

The last Service for this year will take place on Thursday 2 November at AWM, Canberra. That day’s Last Post Ceremony at 5pm will honour Servicemen who fought in the Kokoda and Northern Beachheads Campaign.
A few Members may be able to attend and, if they wish to Lay a Wreath to honour PIB Servicemen, I recommend that they advise AWM’s Last Post Team in advance as they are very helpful.
As you know, this daily Ceremony is also streamed live on the (new) AWM website www.awm.gov.au (From 1st November, the old website will be inactive.)

Victorian Service & Lunch, Saturday 26 August

President Don Graham, Members & families will attend the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance Service at 11am to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Kokoda Campaign. Our Wreath will honour our deceased participants in that 1942 Campaign.
At 1pm Members will gather over Lunch at Chloe’s Restaurant in Young & Jacksons Hotel. (Please contact Greg Ivey if you have any queries.)

Canberra Ceremony Monday 28 August at 5pm

This ‘Last Post Ceremony’ at AWM will honour PIB Lt Arthur Smith who was captured and executed by the Japanese on 28 August 1942. Our Association has supplied considerable information and a photo of Arthur to AWM for their tribute Speech. During the Ceremony we will Lay a Wreath for deceased PIB participants, on behalf of all our Members.
This Ceremony can be viewed live on the AWM Website from 4.55pm, AEST.
