The Sgt. Frank Wust Bridge

Sgt Frank Wust was the founding president of our Association and a tireless advocate for recognition of the role played by the Papuan and New Guinean infantry battalions during the second world war. After much effort by our secretary Kev Horton on behalf of the Wust family and the Association, Sgt Frank has been honoured by the naming of the bridge in his area as the Sgt Frank Wust Bridge.

The dream is realised.

Present at the ceremony at Caboolture to mark the official naming, were local district Members of State Parliament and representatives of the State Department of Main Roads. Local groups, including Church, RSL and the Indigenous community, also lent their support to the many members of Frank’s extended family who attended. Our Association was proud to have played a significant role in realising this honour for Frank and his family. The ceremony was followed by a morning tea at the Caboolture RSL.
