Association Newsletter Dec 2009

PIB NGIB HQ PIR ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER
December 2009

1. New Credit Union Account
Our Association has switched our Account to Maleny Credit Union. Now, Members will be able to send cheques payable to “PIB NGIB HQ PIR Association” rather than payable to me. Thanks to all those who sent cheques, for your patience.

2. Recent Donations
Recently, I asked for donations to help cover some of the costs of the Townsville Remembrance Day Reunion. Two members responded, including the Wust family. As a result, Frank ($200) and I ($221) have been partially reimbursed and the Association has funds to carry on for 2010.

3. AGM next April
As we wrap up a successful 2009, it’s time to plan for 2010. With the AGM in mind, I would like members to start thinking about taking some positions on the Committee.
–I would welcome the participation of the families of our WW11 soldiers. Among our members are sons and daughters of these soldiers. The next AGM provides an opportunity for interested family to join the Committee. With Email, distance from Brisbane will not disadvantage you.
–I believe also that our members who served in the PIR after WW11 have much to offer our Association. Their skills and experience are needed to carry out new projects.
It is time to share the journey forward. I invite family members and PIR members to come on board at the April AGM.

4. Your choice
Please let me know if you wish to change how you receive this Newsletter. If you want to change from Email to Australia Post , or from Australia Post to Email, please let me know (by Email or 3 Park Lane, Buderim Qld 4556 or 07 5476 6971).

5. Season’s Greetings from our Patron
Our Patron, Major General Michael Jeffery, has written: I would like to extend my best wishes to the members of the PIB NGIB HQ PIR Association for a very merry Christmas and a prosperous, safe and happy New Year.

My very warm wishes to you for the festive season and I look forward to continuing my support of the Association in 2010.

Our Patron also has offered us his 2010 Diary schedule so we might request his support or attendance with an Association function. Your Committee is considering a function to mark the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of the PIB. Because our Patron’s Diary is filling quickly, I have asked him to consider attending such a function.

Cheers to everyone,
Greg Ivey
