Kokoda Day 8th Aug 2017

Invitation:

All interested Servicemen, partners and family members, particularly Australian Servicemen in PNG from 1940 to 1975 (or later), are invited to the Kokoda Day commemoration Broadbeach. 8th August 2017. Please note the parking and other arrangements below.

Dinner:
Organised by the PIB-PIR Association at Surfers Paradise RSL Club, Beach Parade, Surfers Paradise, start time 6 pm.

8/8/2017
Commemoration Service:
The service, organised by the Surfers Paradise RSL Sub-branch, is held at the Cascade Gardens Memorial, Broadbeach, commencing at 10:30 am. Maj. Gen. B. W Howard AO, MC, ESM will be the guest speaker. Staff and PNG students from The Southport School will play a role in the Service and wreaths will be laid by local citizens and school students

Reunion Lunch:Following the Service at Broadbeach, you are invited to lunch, at 12 for 12:30 pm, at Surfers Paradise RSL. (There is no reunion fee. Pay direct to the RSL Club for meals and drinks.) Guests will include the Mayor of the Gold Coast and his wife and Mr Stewart Cameron CSC (State President, RSL Qld) and his wife. Also during Lunch, recognition will be paid to local Kokoda Wall artist, David Yardley and attendies can view a display of selected books about the Kokoda Campaign

Special Arrangements

Parking

Parking at Cascade Gardens: Inside the Gardens, there is very limited parking close to the Memorial. Best to arrive early to find your park and then find a seat under the marquee.
Parking for Lunch: Free parking will be offered for 3 hours only in the Public Car Park opposite the RSL Club in Beach Road. You will need to have your Parking Ticket stamped at RSL Reception, to be allowed the limited free parking.
