MINUTES OF THE AGM/GM ON 20th June 2015
for the PIB NGIB HQ PIR Association
held at Surfers Paradise RSL Club

Introduction
Welcome to all. A Minute silence was held to remember past president, Sgt Frank Wust, Lt Col Dick Battersby and other Association members who have passed away.

Open: Acting President Don Graham opened the AGM/GM at 3.12 pm and congratulated all involved in a successful 75th PIB Commemoration.

Treasurer’s Report
Secretary/Treasurer Kev Horton tabled and circulated copies of his Report. The Balance of funds on 15.06.15 was $1176.63 as per Bank statement and 94 large and 40 small car/van stickers remain.

President’s Report
Acting President Don Graham congratulated all involved in the lead up and conduct of the 75th PIB commemoration and re-union and for assisting him during his period as acting President since the passing away of Sgt Frank Wust. Members were directed to the correspondence summary (attached) by K.Horton for major activities throughout the year. – Plaques erected at Kokoda Wall (G.Ivey),, ANZAC Day (K.Horton), Stand alone website www.soldierspng.com (F.Cordingley,K. Smith, F.Mamare), Military trauma correspondence (A. Reminyi, G. Ivey), Pavers Project (P.Jesser,J.Hooper), Newsletters (R.Boddington). Booklet ‘Yesterday and Today’ (M.Pears)

CARRIED with acclamation.

Election of Office Bearers
Acting President Don vacated the Chair and Assistant Sec /Treas Ian Ogston conducted the elections.
Chairman Ian thanked the outgoing Committee for a very busy and successful year and called for nominations for the following positions.
Patron : Ron Lange declined nomination but made himself available for assistance /advice if needed – Maurie Pears agreed to continue as Patron in the interim.

Vice President: Moved: D. Graham Seconded: G. Screen
“that G. Ivey be elected as Vice President” CARRIED

Membership Co-ordinator – No nominations were received so the position was left open.

General Business
Elected President Don resumed the Chair, thanked Ian Ogston for conducting the elections and opened the General Meeting and asked Secretary Kev to present the correspondence.

Items of General Business

  1. Moved Jay Hooper Seconded Kev Horton ‘that the design of the Large PIB NGIB PIR Paver submitted by P.Jesser be endorsed and that the Assn purchase a small paver with the words HONOUR ROLL to be laid centrally below the large PIB NGIB PIR Paver at the Kokoda Memorial Wall at Cascade Gardens, Broadbeach.’ Carried
  2. Moved Greg Ivey Seconded G. Screen ‘ that the Association promote the listing of the PIR Medal on the Schedule of Foreign Awards and resume processing PIR Medal Applications in the next year.’ Carried (Background information given by Peter Porteous)
  3. Moved Greg Ivey Seconded D. Graham that the following be declared Honorary Members and hence no annual fees are required: Sgt Laurie Stevens (NGIB) Elizabeth Ramsay (widow) Elsie Edgar (widow) ADF Liaison Officers based in PNG, PNG residents including Fabian Mamare. The Committee as a whole is authorised to determine future Honorary Members. Carried
  4. Moved K.Horton Seconded S. Beveridge ‘that one larger car/van sticker be sent to all financial members to help promote the Association’s image.’ Carried
  5. The Association congratulated the Website Team of Frank Cordingley, Kevin Smith and Fabian Mamare on the new, official Association Website www.soldierspng.com launched today.
  6. Moved G. Ivey Seconded S. Beveridge ‘that the Association pays the 2015 Website Fee for the Chalkies Network in appreciation for their past Website support’. Carried
