for the PIB NGIB HQ PIR Association
held at Geebung-Zillmere RSL Club, Brisbane

Introduction
Welcome to all was given by Acting-Chairman, Greg Ivey

One Minutes Silence to remember ‘The Fallen’ members of the Papuan Infantry Battalion, New Guinea Infantry Battalion, Headquarters and the Pacific Islands Regiment.
The contribution of Shirley Wust (wife of President Frank Wust) who died on 17.01.13 was noted during the meeting.

Open: A/Chairman Greg opened the AGM at 1.30 pm.

Secretary/Treasurer Kev Horton tabled and circulated copies of his Report. The Balance of our funds is $455.27 as per statement.

Explanation of funds expended re Ben Moide and support costs associated with the ‘70th Anniv. of Kokoda campaign’ explained by G. Ivey
Dues to remain at $5 – reminder e-mails to be sent to members re overdue dues

President’s Report:
In the absence of President Frank Wust due to illness, his son, Noel, passed on Frank’s apologies and his appreciation for the work carried out by all members of the Assn. – An outline of Frank’s continued attendance at Army events /re-unions/schools/ articles written/attendance and participation at events such as the 70th Anniv of Kokoda celebration/ promoting the PIB Assn./ etc — was given by son Noel and Greg Ivey.

Frank Cordingley and Ian Ogston extended the Assn.’s thanks to President Frank for his continued leadership.
CARRIED with acclamation.

Office Bearers for 2013-14:
Acting Chairman Greg vacated the chair and Assistant Sec. Ian Ogston conducted the election of officers.
Ian congratulated and thanked the outgoing Committee for another successful year.

General Business:
Acting chairman Greg resumed the Chair, thanked Ian Ogston for conducting the elections, and called for items of General Business.

        “That we create the position of Schools Officer and invite our Teacher members to visit Schools to talk about the PIB/NGIB and their successor, the PIR.

        ‘That we create the position of Membership & Welfare Officer who would aim to increase Membership of the Assn. and also focus on welfare issues of Members.’
Amendment to the motion: Moved: G. Farr Seconded: T. Edwinsmith – ‘That the position of ‘Membership Officer’ who would aim to increase membership be created.’
        CARRIED (G. Ivey has subsequently offered to take on the role)

Motion that a separate Website be created was withdrawn by I. Ogston

Motion that $100 be allocated for website costs withdrawn as Frank Cordingley indicated that the $100 allocated covered 2 years.

Discussion re the ‘RPIR 50th Anniversary Medal 1940 – 1990’

        ‘that a ‘Medals Committee’ be formed to clarify the protocols re awarding/obtaining/wearing the 50th Anniversary Medal.
        CARRIED

        ‘that the Association’s bank account be transferred from Maleny C.U. to CBA Coolum Beach for ease of access.
        CARRIED

Resolved that President F. Wust; Sec/Treasurer K. Horton; Asst Sec I. Ogston be signatories – any one of these to sign cheques.

Order of March Brisbane for 2014 – Resolved that President Frank’s wish to continue to parade with other marchers behind the Unit Banner be re-affirmed with the ANZAC Day March C’tee.

Resolved that membership dues remain at $5 and that a reminder be sent to members who have not paid.

Col. Ron Lange outlined the developments re the display of the PIR history at the Army Museum at Singleton, NSW. He indicated T. McQuinn researched a book re PIR culture which was not published and sought the Assn.’s assistance in searching out McQuinn with the aim of publishing the book. I. Ogston offered to assist contact with McQuinn.
